Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ season has been about more than collecting results. For coach Rhonda Mulaudzi, the biggest reward has been watching the players grow in confidence, character and understanding of the game.
Mulaudzi says the players have shown a willingness to learn and challenge themselves, even during difficult moments.
“What makes us proud is seeing how much the players have grown, not only as footballers but also as individuals,” she says. “They have continued to show character, resilience and a willingness to improve.”
The growth has also come as the Sasol league is becoming increasingly competitive. Mulaudzi believes the improvement across the league has pushed teams to raise their standards, with tactical organisation and player development becoming increasingly important.
At Sundowns, progress has been evident in decision making, confidence on the ball, teamwork and tactical awareness. However, the coaching staff know there is still work to do, particularly when it comes to being more clinical in the final third.
Player development remains a major priority, with four players three outfield players and one goalkeeper already promoted from the development structure to the senior team. Others have also earned opportunities with junior national teams.
For Mulaudzi, the objective remains clear: develop players, compete for trophies and continue building a pathway towards senior and international football.
