Sundowns Set the Pace as Hollywoodbets Super League Weekend Produces Drama

The Hollywoodbets Super League delivered another weekend of goals, tight contests and important points as teams continued to fight for supremacy across the two streams.

While several sides were forced to settle for narrow wins or share the spoils, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies once again underlined their dominance, producing one of the weekend’s biggest results with an emphatic 8–0 victory over Richmond United Ladies.

Banyana Ba Style remain the team everyone is chasing, with the comprehensive win extending their winning streak to 10 matches and keeping their perfect record intact. Their latest performance once again showed the quality and consistency that has made them such a formidable force this season.

University of Pretoria also enjoyed a valuable weekend, securing a 1–0 victory over UWC. The result strengthened Tuks’ position in the Super Era stream and gave them another important three points in what continues to be a closely contested campaign.

In the Super Rise stream, JVW FC were held to a 1–1 draw by Ezemvelo Women’s FC. The point keeps JVW among the leading contenders, but the dropped points could prove significant as the race for position becomes increasingly competitive.

There was little to separate Copperbelt Ladies and Stellenbosch Ladies, who played out an entertaining 2–2 draw, while University of Fort Hare claimed a hard-fought 1–0 win over Ramatlaohle Ladies.

One of the weekend’s standout stories came from Gqeberha, where 14-year-old Imanathi Makinana announced herself on the big stage. The youngster scored twice from the penalty spot to help City Lads Ladies defeat First Touch Ladies 2–1, earning Player of the Match honours in a performance that highlighted the exciting young talent coming through the women’s game.

The weekend also brought disappointment for some sides. TS Galaxy Queens forfeited their fixture against Diepkloof Ladies, with Diepkloof awarded the points and goals in accordance with the competition rules. The University of Johannesburg versus TUT Ladies fixture was also postponed because of travel-related logistical challenges.

As the season moves forward, the pressure will only increase. Sundowns continue to set the benchmark, but with valuable points being won, lost and shared every weekend, the battles throughout the Hollywoodbets Super League are far from over.

Every match is becoming more important  and every point could matter when the season reaches its final stretch.
