South African champions face host nation in CAF Women’s Champions League Draw

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will begin their journey for a third CAF Women’s Champions League title against Egyptian side FC Masar after being drawn into Group A for the 2026 edition of the competition.

The South African champions will also face Cameroon’s Lékié Football Girls and Morocco’s FUS Rabat in the group stage, following Tuesday’s draw in Cairo, Egypt.

Sundowns will open their campaign against hosts FC Masar on 1st  November before taking on Lékié Football Girls on 4th  November. They will conclude their group-stage matches against FUS Rabat on 7th November.

The draw presents a different challenge for Sundowns, who return to the continental stage after missing out on last year’s tournament. The Brazilians secured their place in this year’s edition by winning the COSAFA qualifiers in Botswana in August.

The Tshwane-based side will be looking to make the most of their return as they aim to reclaim the continental crown. Having won the competition in 2021 and 2023, Sundowns have established themselves as one of the leading forces in African women’s football.

However, the road to the title will not be straightforward, with the team needing to navigate three group-stage matches before securing a place in the semi-finals. Only the top two teams in each group will progress to the knockout stage.

With the tournament taking place in Egypt from 1 to 15 November, Sundowns will be determined to make their return count and compete for another continental title.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ Group A fixtures:

1 November: FC Masar vs Mamelodi Sundowns

4 November: Lékié Football Girls vs Mamelodi Sundowns

7 November: Mamelodi Sundowns vs FUS Rabat
