Hollywoodbets Pro Series Returns with Triple-Header of Women’s Cricket Action

The Hollywoodbets Pro Series is back for another season as South Africa’s professional women cricketers prepare to battle for domestic honours across the 50-over and T20 formats. The competition forms an important part of the continued growth of professional women’s cricket in South Africa, providing players with a high-level domestic platform to compete, develop and put their performances on display. The previous campaign saw World Sports Betting Western Province claim both the Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 titles.

The new campaign gets underway with a full day of action on Saturday, 3 October, when three Pro50 fixtures take place across the country.

Three Pro50 fixtures to open the campaign

At YesPlay Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town, the YesPlay Cobras Women captained by Leah Jones, will host the Garden Route Badgers Women, led by Verunisa Reddy. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00. Both captains will be looking to lead their sides to a positive start as the teams begin their respective campaigns in the 50-over competition.

In Gqeberha, the Warriors Women, captained by Zizipho Mdebuka, will face the DP World Lions Women at St George’s Park, with play also scheduled for 10:00. Nini will lead the Warriors into their opening Pro50 fixture, while Kgomotso Rapoo will captain the Lions in the 50-over format. The fixture provides both teams with an early opportunity to build momentum and establish themselves in the competition.

The third Pro50 fixture will see the Fidelity Titans Women, led by Katie Prior, take on the Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women, captained by Nondumiso Shangase, at the TUT Oval in Centurion, also starting at 10:00.

T20 action follows on Sunday

The opening weekend will continue on Sunday, 4 October, with the same three match-ups returning in the Hollywoodbets Pro20 competition. The Cobras and Garden Route Badgers will meet again at Newlands, while Warriors and DP World Lions will renew their battle at St George’s Park. The leadership of the Lions will change for the shorter format, with Raisibe Ntozakhe taking over as captain for the Pro20 competition, while Rapoo leads the side in the Pro50. The different leadership appointments across formats highlight the depth of experience within the professional women's domestic game and add another interesting element to the opening weekend. In Centurion, Fidelity Titans Women and Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women will again face each other at the TUT Oval. All three matches are scheduled for 10:00, giving supporters a full day of professional women's cricket.

A platform for the next generation

Beyond the battle for silverware, the Hollywoodbets Pro Series continues to provide an important pathway for women cricketers in South Africa. The professionalisation of the women's domestic game has created more opportunities for players to compete consistently at an elite level while strengthening the depth of the women's cricket system.

The 2025/26 season was the competition's third professional campaign, with Western Province completing a double by winning both the Pro50 and Pro20 competitions. With the 2026/27 season now getting underway, attention turns to which teams can challenge for domestic supremacy and which players will emerge as key performers throughout the campaign.

For supporters, there is also an opportunity to experience the action at the grounds, with free entry advertised for the competition. Matches are also available to watch through Cricket South Africa's YouTube channel, making the competition accessible to fans around the country.

With three Pro50 matches on Saturday followed by three Pro20 encounters on Sunday, the opening weekend promises a strong start to another important season for professional women's cricket in South Africa.
