DP World Lions look to make up for lost time against flying Fidelity Titans

The DP World Lions Women will be eager to make their mark on the 2026/27 Hollywoodbets Pro Series when they take on the Fidelity Titans Women in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Saturday, 10 October.

 DP World Lions

The Lions head into the encounter looking to get their campaign underway after the weather disrupted their opening-round fixture against the Warriors at St George’s Park in Gqeberha. With rain preventing both teams from batting, the match was abandoned without a ball being bowled, leaving the Lions without an opportunity to test themselves in the opening weekend.

Their clash against the Titans therefore presents an important opportunity to get their season moving, although they face a side that has already demonstrated its batting strength. The Titans made an impressive start to their campaign, recording an 86-run victory over the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in their opening Pro50 encounter. After being asked to bat first, the Centurion-based side posted 228/8 in their allotted 50 overs, with Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt leading from the front with an unbeaten 123 off 129 deliveries, including 13 fours and a six.

Wolvaardt’s century provided the foundation for a competitive total, while the Titans’ bowlers ensured that the Dolphins struggled to keep pace in the chase. The Dolphins were eventually bowled out for 142 in 37 overs, handing the Titans a convincing opening victory. The Titans will be looking to carry that momentum into Saturday’s fixture, with their batting depth and Wolvaardt’s excellent form likely to be key factors once again.

For the Lions, the challenge will be to find their rhythm quickly after missing out on valuable match time in the opening round. They will need to produce a disciplined bowling performance to contain the Titans’ batting line-up before backing themselves to deliver with the bat. DP World Lions have several players who could make a difference against the Titans. Jenna Evans will be one to watch with the bat after finishing the previous campaign as the Lions’ leading run-scorer in the Pro50 competition, with 241 runs. Her contribution at the top of the order could be crucial as the Lions look to build a competitive total.

Sunette Viljoen-Louw brings valuable experience to the batting line-up. She was the Lions’ leading run-scorer in the Pro20 competition last season, recording two half-centuries, and will be looking to carry that form into the new campaign. With the ball, Raisibe Ntozakhe will be central to the Lions’ plans. The experienced all-rounder claimed 10 wickets in the Pro50 competition last season, making her an important player in the effort to contain the Titans’ formidable batting line-up.

Relebohile Mkhize is another player to keep an eye on. The left-arm bowler took nine wickets in the Pro50 competition last season and 10 in the Pro20, demonstrating her ability to make an impact across both formats. Captain Kgomotso Rapoo will also be important to the Lions’ campaign, bringing leadership and middle-order batting ability as the team looks to respond after a frustrating weather-affected start.

With the Titans already enjoying a winning start and the Lions hungry to get their campaign going, the encounter promises to be an intriguing contest between a side building on early momentum and one determined to make up for lost time.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday, 11 October, in the Hollywoodbets Pro20 at SuperSport Park, offering both sides another opportunity to make an early statement in the competition.
