SPAR Proteas Complete Perfect Pool Stage With Victory Over Namibia

The SPAR Proteas wrapped up their 2026 Africa Netball Cup pool-stage campaign with a fourth consecutive victory after defeating Namibia 55–33 in Nairobi, Kenya, on Wednesday. The defending champions maintained their unbeaten record throughout Pool 1, following victories over Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. Their latest result ensured that South Africa finished the group stage with a perfect four-from-four record as they continue their title defence.



South Africa made a strong start against the Debmarine Desert Jewels, taking control of the contest from the opening whistle. The Proteas led 16–8 at the end of the first quarter before extending their advantage to 33–16 at half-time. Head coach Jenny van Dyk used the opportunity to rotate her squad in the third quarter, introducing fresh legs as South Africa continued to manage the game. Namibia responded with a determined showing, winning the third quarter 10–8, but the Proteas still entered the final quarter with a comfortable 41–26 advantage.

South Africa regained control in the final 15 minutes, outscoring Namibia 14–7 to close out a 22-goal victory. Nonsikelelo Mazibuko was introduced into the shooting circle during the final quarter and made the most of her opportunity as the Proteas completed another impressive performance. The result capped a dominant pool-stage campaign for South Africa.

The Proteas opened their campaign with a commanding 90–22 victory over Tanzania, before defeating Zimbabwe 58–41 in their second match. They then continued their winning run with a 72–32 victory over Botswana, before completing the clean sweep against Namibia.

Across their four matches, the Proteas scored 275 goals while conceding just 128, giving them a goal difference of +147. The campaign has also provided head coach Jenny van Dyk with valuable opportunities to rotate the squad and assess different combinations. Earlier in the tournament, Tinita van Dyk and Luca Keun earned their senior international debuts, while Refiloe Nketsa celebrated her 50th SPAR Proteas cap against Zimbabwe.

South Africa turned their attention to the semi-finals, where they defeated Malawi on Thursday, 24 September 62-46. The SPAR Proteas will now look to carry their unbeaten momentum into the finals of the tournament as they continue their pursuit of another Africa Netball Cup title.
