Marizanne Kapp and Knight Riders beat Jamaica Empress in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League

The Trinbago Knight Riders continued their impressive start to the 2026 Women’s Caribbean Premier League with a convincing nine-wicket victory over Jamaica Empress, securing back-to-back wins.

Jamaica Empress posted 100/8 in their 20 overs, but the Knight Riders made light work of the chase, reaching 104/1 in just 11.1 overs to seal victory with 53 balls remaining.

Kapp shines for the Knight Riders

South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp was instrumental with the ball, delivering a superb spell of 4 overs, 2 maidens, 6 runs and 1 wicket. Kapp’s remarkable economy rate of 1.50 runs per over helped keep Jamaica Empress under pressure throughout their innings. Her two maidens were a further reflection of her exceptional control and experience in T20 cricket.

Mlaba claims a wicket for Jamaica Empress

On the opposite side, fellow Proteas star Nonkululeko Mlaba featured for Jamaica Empress and also managed to make an impact with the ball. Mlaba finished with 1 wicket for 34 runs, contributing a wicket despite the Knight Riders’ dominant chase.

The contrasting performances from the two South African stars added another interesting dimension to the contest, with Kapp’s economical spell helping the Knight Riders restrict Jamaica, while Mlaba battled against a strong Trinbago batting performance.

Chasing 101, Trinbago Knight Riders showed their batting strength, reaching 104/1 in 11.1 overs. The emphatic nine-wicket victory gives the Knight Riders valuable momentum as they continue their WCPL campaign, while Jamaica Empress will look to bounce back in their next encounter.
