Hollywoodbets Super League: KZN Results

The Hollywoodbets Super League Amplified Festival concluded at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal, with clubs heading into the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) break after an action-packed weekend of football. Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies maintained their perfect record at the top of the Super Era group, while TUT Ladies returned to winning ways and Diepkloof Ladies looked ahead with optimism despite another defeat.

The headline fixture of the weekend saw league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies secure an impressive 2-0 victory over previously unbeaten TS Galaxy Queens. Isabella Ludwig gave the Brazilians the perfect start with an early opener before Ronnel Donnelly, making her return after a lengthy injury layoff, sealed the result late in the second half. The victory ensured Sundowns remained flawless after five matches, while TS Galaxy suffered their first defeat of the campaign.

Despite the loss, TS Galaxy head coach Sizwe Sibiya was encouraged by his team's overall display.

"The let down today was the two goals that we conceded, other than that we were stable. We just wanted to find that moment of frustrating them here and there. At some point they were frustrated because they couldn't find their channels properly and passing lanes. It's a game at the end of the day and it's the score that counts."

Sundowns head coach Godfrey Sapula praised his players for executing their game plan, particularly from set-piece situations.

"I think the team played very well today. We knew it was not going to be easy against TS Galaxy. We thought it was going to be a game of small margins and we knew we were going to control possession while they tried to frustrate us. I am really pleased with how we scored goals today. We've been working really hard on our set plays, our delivery has improved and the timing and aggression to attack the ball were excellent. I'm pleased we were able to score two goals from set plays."

Elsewhere, TUT Ladies produced one of their best performances of the festival with a convincing 3-0 victory over hosts Ezemvelo, ending a difficult run of form and reigniting their Super Rise campaign.

Acting head coach Lebogang Radebe was delighted with her side's response.

"The ladies have done extremely well. The past two games we were not performing well, but today in the first half we did extremely well and tactically I think we were on point. We started the game well and even in the second half we managed the game, reserved our energy and looked to catch them on the counter attack. We have been creating chances without scoring, but today we managed to score three goals and we are happy with the three points."

Although Diepkloof Ladies endured another difficult outing during the festival, newly appointed head coach Edwin Lisele believes reinforcements during the break will strengthen the squad for the remainder of the season.

"It's about bringing in young blood that can help us because in front we are lacking, while at the back we are solid. We have already managed to secure some players who will help us when we return from the break. The team is not bad, it's still early and not all is lost."

With the KwaZulu-Natal festival complete, attention now shifts to the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco before the Hollywoodbets Super League resumes at the end of August.
