When the final whistle confirmed the end of the Hollywoodbets Super League campaign, the numbers told a powerful story — but the real influence was felt in goal.
Magagula finished the season with 19 clean sheets, the most by any goalkeeper in the league, anchoring a TS Galaxy Queens side that surged to third place, winning 21 matches, drawing six and losing just three.
Just as telling was the defensive shift. Galaxy Queens conceded only 18 goals, down from 28 the previous season — a transformation built on structure, communication and trust at the back.
“It means a lot to me achieving this goal that I have worked hard for, and it shows hard work on and off the field,” Magagula said.
Hailing from Kgaphamadi in Limpopo, Magagula’s rise has been defined by steady growth rather than sudden spotlight. Over the past season, she refined the modern demands of goalkeeping — becoming not only a shot-stopper, but an organiser and sweeper behind the defensive line.
“I worked more on my communication and playing as a sweeper. I also worked a lot more on collecting high balls,” she explained.
The results were visible. Galaxy Queens looked calmer under pressure, harder to break down and more assured defensively. Each clean sheet reinforced belief across the squad.
Magagula remained firmly in the national picture, earning her place in the Banyana Banyana setup — a moment she describes as deeply personal and a reward to show that her form did not go unnoticed.
“It means a lot to me and my family because that is my dream — to always be part of the players who represent the country.”
WiTh the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) approaching in Morocco, Magagula is focused on improving herself to make the final cut of the squa rather than satisfied with her numbers.
“I am always excited to travel and be with the team. The different national teams that we get to compete against also excite me,” she said.
“I know I will have to work hard to make it to the team that will take place in the next months in Morocco.”
Her goals and ambitions are clear: “Making it to the final squad and being one of the players that will be in the field representing our country.”
As Banyana Banyana prepare for continental battle, Magagula believes South Africa have what it takes.
“I believe the team can make it to the finals and qualify for the World Cup.”
For TS Galaxy Queens, Magagula was the foundation of a historic campaign, losing less games and conceding lesser goals than their previous campaigns in the Hollywoodbets Super League.
